What We Ate
With apologies to Georges Perec, here are the menus of the meals on the first leg of our trip.
Auckland to Melbourne
DINNER (pictured above)
Appetiser:
Shrimp cocktail with fresh lemon wedge and iceberg letture
Main course:
Braised lamb
In a tomato gravy, served with orzo pasta mixed with grean beans and pumpkin
or
Roast cajun chicken
with creamy parsley mashed potatoes, and sautéed sugar snap peas, and carrot batons
Dessert:
Chocoberry cake
Fudge like chocolate cake and a sweet raspberry coulis
Cheese and biscuits
Melbourne to Dubai
DINNER
Appetiser:
Tuna salad on a bed of creamy potato salad with red peppers
Main course:
Moroccan style chicken topped with a rich beef and onion jus, Pommery mustard flavoured mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables
Dessert: Passion fruit cheesecake
AS YOU LIKE IT
Chicken pie
Tender chicken pieces cooked with mixed Thai spices in a crunchy pastry casing
Vegetable pie
Classic filling of mixed vegetable in light cream cheese sauce
Fresh seasonal fruit
Assorted chocolate bars
BREAKFAST
Appetiser:
Fresh seasonal fruit
Main course:
Mixed grill
which includes grilled beef steak, veal sausage, sautéed button mushrooms, roasted chat potatoes and a grilled tomato
or
Swiss cheese omelette
Light and fluffy omelette filled with grated Swiss cheese, served with hash brown potato and fresh mushrooms tossed in tomato sauce
Dessert: Croissant served with butter and preserve
Dubai to Milan
DINNER
Appetiser:
Classic Greek salad
of tomato, cucumber and feta cheese with pitted black olives.
Main course:
Breaded white fish fillet
with a creamy red pepper sauce, dill flavoured mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables
or
Butter chicken
Tender pieces of chicken
cooked in a creamy spiced sauce, served with carrot rice and dal makhani
Dessert:
Chocolate banana streusel
served with vanilla sauce Cheese and biscuits
